>>Dominion Energy Customers to Foot Bill for Increase in Wind Project
(Portsmouth, VA) -- A wind project in coastal Virginia is costing more than initially projected. Rocio Rivera has more who will pay for the increase.Preview: Dominion Energy customers will be paying, to the tune of an extra $900 million dollars. The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project will install 176 extremely tall wind turbines on 27 miles of coast in Virginia Beach. It's the largest offshore wind farm currently being built in the U.S. The increase in price brings the total for the project to more than $10 billion dollars. And Dominion Energy customers will be expected to pay about an extra 43 cents per month on their bill. Dominion says the project will produce 2.6 gigawatts of energy which translates to powering up to 660-thousand homes. It also will avoid carbon emissions that equal taking about a million cars off the road. I'm RR.
