(Richmond, VA) -- Five Richmond Public Schools bus drivers say they were fired after advocating for overtime pay. More from Katie Gray.Preview: Voicer Script:
The five call themselves the RPS 5 and say, on April 8th, they joined about 25 other RPS employees to advocate for overtime. RPS Superintendent Jason Kamras released a statement saying the bus drivers suddenly called out that day resulting in RPS canceling most after-school activities leaving thousands of students without programming. The five bus drivers say their termination letters state they were let go for violating the state code on striking. The five drivers have started a reinstatement petition to get their jobs back.
