The agency announced late last week that drought watches in the Big Sandy and New River regions have been dropped after recent rainfall caused by Hurricane Helene. A drought warning issued for six counties in the Shenandoah region has also been reduced to a drought watch. A drought watch also remains in effect for five counties in the Northern Virginia region.
