A Senate finance committee simply did not address the legislation. The proposed bill aimed to establish a fund to assist farmers enrolled in the federal Rainfall Index Pasture, Rangeland, and Forage insurance program by providing up to $500 in compensation for their annual premium. Despite support from the Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources Committee, the Cardinal News reports the bill did not survive the appropriations committee. The program was intended to help farmers build resiliency against drought and introduce more participants to the insurance program.
