The White House launched the dashboard in 2022 in response to the high number of fentanyl and other opioid overdoses. The site uses EMS reports from around the U.S. to get a better picture of where the most overdoses are happening. Information posted last weekend places Galax, Richmond and Martinsville in the top ten for non-fatal overdoses in the U.S. Overdoses around the state are classified as lower than average overall, while North Carolina and the District of Columbia are both ranked in the top three for non-fatal overdoses.
