(Manassas, VA) -- The nationwide egg shortage is affecting food pantries in Virginia. The coordinator for House of Mercy tells News4 some shelves are empty in their fridge where the used to keep eggs. The organization says they used to be able to give every family a dozen eggs, but that has now been cut down to half a dozen. And the number of families they can help has also declined. The ongoing bird flu outbreak has caused nearly 150 million hens to be killed in the U.S. causing the price of eggs to skyrocket and supply to dwindle. I'm RR>
