A citizen complained earlier this year that Liam Watson never lived at a Blacksburg address he used to qualify to be a candidate for the seat, and then to illegally cast a vote. Montgomery County's Commonwealth's Attorney says the attorney general authorized the state police to start an investigation this March, but Watson's attorney argued yesterday that the investigation began before they had permission. A circuit court judge is expected to decide whether to dismiss the fraud charges in February.
