>>University of Lynchburg Plans to Nix 17 Programs, 44 Positions
(Lynchburg, VA) -- A Virginia University decides to streamline operations as the finances remain a challenge for everyone. Stephanie DeLuca with more.Preview: Voicer Script:
The University of Lynchburg announced plans to eliminate 12 undergraduate and five graduate programs over the next few years, affecting about 4.5% of students. The university will also reduce its executive leadership team by four roles and cut about 40 staff positions immediately. President Alison Morrison-Shetlar emphasized the need for strategic restructuring to prioritize students, faculty, and staff in the face of financial challenges. The changes come as students scrutinize the cost of tuition compared to potential salaries and many other colleges and universities find themselves needing to also make program cuts.
