Court records show the former CFO of Virginia Birth Injury Fund, John Hunter Raines, is scheduled to be sentenced for embezzling nearly $7 million dollars from the program to fund a lavish lifestyle. CBS 6 reports Raines could potentially receive years in federal prison for the theft. The program compensates disabled children and their families for neurological injuries at birth. The 39-year-old New Kent County resident admitted to using the money for his alcohol and gambling addiction, as well as limo rides, private jet trips and payments to a mistress.
