Senator Danica Roem introduced Senate Bill 1029 to cap Freedom of Information Act processing fees, but the bill was sent back to committee in the House of Delegates, effectively killing it for the session. Reportedly transparency advocates supported the bill, which aimed to address concerns about high fees preventing access to critical information. Despite the setback, Roem plans to reintroduce the bill next year to promote transparency and access to government information.
