Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority is facing a financial shortfall but it is unclear what caused it or if anyone will be held responsible. The problem leaves 45-hundred families on the waitlist for Section 8 housing. Despite 150 families recently finding homes, they now have to wait again due to the high demand for housing. Executive Director David Bustamante urges patience and tells WDBJ the agency is waiting for additional government funding from HUD and hopes to resume the voucher program soon, but the process could take months.
