Ranked 21st overall, Virginia Beach offers diverse industries and a strong job market. Norfolk came in lower overall at number 33 but ranked first for the city with the highest employment growth. Chesapeake and Richmond ranked lower at 38th and 40th, respectively, followed by Newport News at 72. The researchers compared 31 key indicators of job-market strength in more than 180 U.S. cities- including job opportunities per job seeker, employment growth, and the monthly average starting salary. Scottsdale, Arizona ranked 1st overall.
