A divorced couple is in disagreement over the ex-wife's desire to use two embryos created during their marriage as her last chance to conceive a biological child after a cancer treatment left her infertile. News4 Washington reports the case has attracted attention due to the debate over the embryos' classification as property and the implications for reproductive rights. A previous judge ruled in favor of the father, citing slavery as a precedent. Current Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Dontae Bugg expressed concerns about assigning a monetary value to the embryos and will issue a ruling later.
