A new report on the impact of the program's first year revealed that many participants are still living in poverty in the expensive city. More than 70% of participants reported experiencing food insecurity, and most had little to no savings or significant debt. ALX Now dot com reports the program, funded by the American Rescue Plan, has been extended to June 2025, providing much-needed financial support to low-income individuals. Mayor Justin Wilson hopes to learn valuable lessons from the program to improve future poverty-alleviation efforts in the city.
