One of the bills aims to combat the manufacturing of Xylazine. According to the U.S. DEA, there's been an increase in the drug, which is sometimes known as "tranq." It is a veterinary drug used to tranquilize horses and is not approved for human use. More recently it's been mixed with fentanyl, heroin and cocaine. Another bill requires school boards in Virginia to develop policies for opioid overdose prevention and treatment in schools. The third bill renames the Drug Treatment Court Act to the Recovery Court Act. In a statement, Governor Youngkin says the three bills are a "testament to the continued efforts to address addiction and overdose prevention."
