Republican Winsome Earle-Sears and Democrat Abigail Spanberger will face each other in this fall's race for governor. The Virginia Republican Party announced Saturday that Earle-Sears would lead their ticket after no other candidate turned in enough petition signatures. Spanberger was announced as the Democratic candidate last week. It will be the first Virginia governor's race to feature two women, and Earle-Sears could also become the first Black woman to be elected governor in the state.
