(Richmond, VA) -- Virginia State Police have release their annual statewide crime analysis report. Rocio Rivera has more on what's up and what's down.Preview: The bottom line is hate crimes are way up. The report released yesterday for crime in 2023 shows hate crimes in the Commonwealth have increased by more than 48% compared with the year before. And the report finds most hate crimes are being racially or ethnically motivated, with crimes involving religion increasing by 177%. The stats include Virginia hate crimes after the Oct. 7th Hamas attack on Israel. Jewish leaders in the state say the numbers on religious hate crimes could spike even more in the coming year. The State Police report however did find that homicides are down. I'm RR.
