The south sides of mountains and slopes were the most affected areas. The Department providing recommendations and assistance to private landowners for restoring damaged forests, including replanting or natural regeneration. Federal programs like the Emergency Forest Restoration Program and the Restoration of Timberlands Program offer cost-share assistance for restoration activities.
