(Portsmouth, VA) -- A local Portsmouth high school track star is receiving support from her school and the NAACP over an allebed baton incident a recent race. Norcom student and track star Alaila Everett says she'g grateful for the support she and her family are receiving amid allegations she hit a fellow competitor with her baton during the 4×200 meter relay. And Everett is now receiving the support of the Portsmouth NAACP who says they stand by her and know she is not an attacker or criminal. Everett is now facing misdemeanor charges for allegedly hitting fellow racer, Brookville High junior Kaelen Tucker, during the relay at the Virginia High School League’s Class 3 indoor track state championships. Tucker is claiming she suffered a concusion and possible skull fracture from the event and has filed a protective order against Everett.
