The marker will highlight various ties between Lewis and Clark and Botetourt, where they had significant interactions in the early 1800s. Additionally, eight other markers were approved in Chesterfield, Loudoun, Lancaster, and Dinwiddie counties, as well as in the cities of Richmond, Newport News, and Norfolk, showcasing various historical events and figures in those areas. The Cardinal News reports the markers will provide insight into significant moments in Virginia's history, such as the establishment of the First Baptist Church Bermuda Hundred and the impact of the Garvey Movement in Newport News.
