The Mount Vernon estate, George Washington's mansion, will close temporarily on November first. But officials with the estate say there will still be one room open for viewing by visitors. Four original paintings Washington commissioned will be on display in that room. The mansion is undergoing renovations for the country's 250th anniversary. It is expected to reopen several months before the July 2026 celebration.
