(Portsmouth, VA) -- Virginia State Police are reminding everyone to drive smart, safe, and sober this holiday weekend. Rocio Rivera has more.Preview: Virginia State Police are participating in the Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort. It started Friday for the holiday. It's a state-sponsored, national program aimed at reducing crash fatalities and injuries due to impaired driving. Last year during the Memorial Day holiday, Virginia Troopers cited close to 5-thousand speeders, more than 19-hundred reckless drivers, and almost 90 impaired drivers. Troopers say it's a busy time of year for everyone, which is the reason why drivers should slow down, and remember to wear your seat belt along with driving sober. I'm RR.
