The nonprofit Homeward in Richmond reported a significant increase in homelessness in the Greater Richmond region since last summer, with over 500 people experiencing homelessness in July 2024, up nearly hundred more than in 2023. The Point-in-Time Count pointed towards reasons such as family breakdowns, unemployment, eviction, or housing costs. WRIC reports... The region saw its highest homeless population in 2021, with almost 700 individuals affected.
