The Board of Wildlife Resources heard from various stakeholders, including the Keswick Hunting Club, the Property Rights Coalition of Virginia, and the Virginia Bear Hunters Association during a recent meeting. The Faquier Times reports the board heard proposals from property owners that would have required deer and bear hunters to put GPS collars on the hounds they use. While another proposal wanted hunters to make “reasonable efforts” to not let their dogs roam onto other property once property owners notified them they weren’t welcome. Currently, the right to retrieve law is an exception to trespass criminal law.
