Attorney General Jason Miyares issued an opinion yesterday saying Virginia's law enforcement professionals have "a moral duty" to cooperate with lawful federal immigration orders. He added that there is nothing in state law that prevents state and local law enforcement from cooperating with federal agencies. He went on to thank sheriffs who already cooperate with agencies like ICE, while saying "shame on you" to those who don't.
