(Fairfax, VA) -- A judge has decided to accept an insanity plea in connection with an attack on a congressional office in Fairfax. Richard Stelling reports.Preview: Voicer Script:
The judge decided to accept the plea from 50-year-old Xuan-Kha Tran Pham on Monday. Pham was arrested in May of last year after he brought a baseball bat into the offices of Congressman Gerry Connolly and attacked staffers, injuring two of them. Pham's lawyer said his client has suffered from mental illness for decades and was unmedicated at the time of the attack. The plea allows Pham to be sent to a psychiatric hospital for treatment of his illness.
