The James River in Richmond experienced high water levels this week, reaching over 16 feet Monday and Tuesday and posing a flood risk to the community. Despite the initial surge, the river appeared calmer by Thursday evening. The Department of Conservation and Recreation say it is important for officials and residents to prepare in advance for flood resilience, as flooding is a common occurrence in the state. WRIC reports residents in high-risk flood areas are encouraged to obtain flood insurance and stay informed about potential risks. The National Water Prediction Service says the James River sat at around 10 feet as of Thursday evening in the Richmond zone.
