Virginia Verified Beef, a new labeling program, ensures that beef products have been bred, born, raised, and processed in Virginia. The initiative, unveiled at the Virginia Beef Expo, aims to provide transparency and truth in labeling for consumers. Inspired by a similar program in Oklahoma, the Virginia Cattlemen’s Association developed the idea in 2023, leading to legislation signed by Governor Glenn Youngkin in 2024. WDBJ reports the program is expected to benefit cattle producers by increasing profits and promoting a more sustainable supply chain in Virginia. The Virginia Verified Beef logo is set to be introduced this summer.
