The state agency says it will suspend many highway work zones and lift a majority of lane closures on major Virginia roadways starting this afternoon (Friday). The change will remain in place until noon on Tuesday. Triple-A is expecting domestic travel for the last holiday weekend of the summer to jump as much as nine-percent compared to last year. Meanwhile, TSA is getting ready for the busiest Labor Day travel period on record with an anticipated eight-and-a-half-percent increase in passengers compared to 2023. V-DOT offers several resources to help drivers plan their trips. This includes an interactive travel trends map that will show peak congestion periods over the next few days.
