Scott Baker with the Virginia Cooperative Extension says the insects lay eggs in clumps and you can find them on trees, bushes, outdoor furniture, and even on the ground. He tells WSET you can either smash them or spray them with dormant oil in order to disrupt the growth of the invasive population.Preview: Baker says he believes the lanterflies are here to stay but he encourages residents to destroy the eggs in order to lower the population and hopefully lessen the destruction of their habitat.
