Researchers at UVA Health are developing a smartphone app that can quickly detect heart attacks and strokes. The app asks users questions and includes a finger-tapping test to assess symptoms. WDBJ reports that in a clinical trial with over 200 patients, that app was 100% effective at identifying those needing hospital care. The app aims to help patients recognize symptoms and seek timely medical attention to improve outcomes. Further testing is needed before the app is available to the public.
