(Norfolk, VA) -- The Virginia Lottery is reminding residents in the state to gift responsibly this holiday season. Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: Officials with the lottery say that while lottery tickets do make good stocking stuffers, they're meant just for adults. You must be 18 to play, to buy a ticket, or to redeem a winning ticket. Virginia Lottery spokesperson, John Hagerty, tells WAVY that adults should also not let minors pick out tickets or pick numbers. Hagerty says studies show that the younger a person starts gambling, the greater the possibilty that person could develop a gambling problem later on. In the state of Virginia it is illegal to give a lottery ticket to anyone who is not 18 years of age or older. I'm RR.
