>>Virgina Ranked Among the Highest With Lowest Wages In The South
(undated) -- New study highlighting Virginia as one of the lowest paying states in the south.
Katie Gray reports...Preview: A recent study by Oxfam America reveals that over 21% of Virginians are earning less than $17 per hour, totaling nearly 1 million individuals. Among this group, 43.5% are single parents. Virginia's minimum wage currently stands at $12, higher than the federal minimum of $7.25, following an increase in 2020. Experts tell Axio that one of the biggest driving changes in raised state average pay is inflation, and a strong labor market where lower-wage employees are still in high demand. The state is one of 30 with a minimum wage above the federal level.
