It's because City Council says the curfew is working. It was put into effect last year; anyone under the age of 18 couldn't be out between 11:00p.m. and 5:00a.m. It was set to expire on June 1, but Lynchburg City Council voted to extend the citywide curfew until January 1, 2025. WSET-TV reports Lynchburg Police saying the curfew has led to lower violent and property crime. In the time it's been in effect, police say 46 juveniles have been charged with violating the curfew and two adults have have been charged with contributing to children violating the curfew.
