The Virginia Department of Forestry and the US Forest Service, through the Inflation Reduction Act, have awarded Lynchburg 189-thousand-dollars to plant 250 new trees. Lynchburg Urban Forester Nicholas Meyer tells ABC13 that the new trees will be planted in places known as "Heat Islands"Preview: While hopefully dropping the temperatures where they are planted, the trees will mitigate storm water runoff and create delicious oxygen.
