>>Mastodon Bones to be Displayed at Visitor's Center in Norfolk.
(Norfolk, VA) -- An incredible discovery at the site of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Project will be on display soon. Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: Mastodon bones found while digging up a new tunnel on the HRBT project are coming to Norfolk. The bones will be on display at the project's visitor's center. The bones are estimated to be between 12-thousand and 50-thousand years old. Mastodons are similar in appearance to wooly mammoths or modern-day elephants. They're believed to have roamed Hampton Roads thousands of years ago along with Saber-toothed cats, giant beavers, and ground sloths. Other mastodon bones found in Hampton Roads are currently on display at the Virginia Living Museum. I'm RR.
