The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, which currently turns away hundreds of qualified applicants due to limited capacity, aims to increase enrollment from 196 to 400 students. The school also plans to construct a new building by 2028. The Cardinal News reports the expansion project, with an estimated cost of $183.7 million dollars, has received support from the General Assembly and is seen as a significant investment in the region's biomedical hub. The school's unique problem-based learning curriculum and small class sizes will be maintained even with increased enrollment.
