The OnDemand Microtransit service returns in Newport News and Virginia Beach, with a $2 per ride fee and a ride-pairing app. The Virginia Beach service covers 15 square miles, including stops at Town Center and Virginia Wesleyan, while the Newport News service covers 20 square miles, with stops at Patrick Henry Mall and Christopher Newport University. Free fares will be available for the first two weeks to celebrate the service's return, with events in both cities featuring city officials, business leaders, Hampton Roads Transit's CEO, and others.
