In efforts to improve attendance rates, the program allows parents to call the school if their child misses the bus, and a ride will be scheduled to pick them up and drop them off at school. The initiative is funded by the All in VA initiative, with over $104,000 allocated for alternative transportation. The program aims to reduce chronic absenteeism, with 22.6% of students missing more than 18 days of school last year. Additional initiatives to address attendance are also being implemented, including the opportunity for students to make up missed days on Saturdays or before/after school.
