(Chesterfield, VA) -- Dominion Energy is moving forward with its plan to build a new natural gas plant, but not without some pushback from the community. Madison Roberts with the story.Preview: Voicer Script:
The utility company says it's planning to build the proposed facility at the Chesterfield Power Station, a retired coal plant. Dominion Energy has gone back and forth for months about where the future Chesterfield Energy Reliability Center should go. The initial plan was to use a site located about a mile from the power station, but the community argued that the former coal plant would minimize local environmental impacts. Not everyone is for the idea. The group Friends of Chesterfield is pushing back against the development... and has submitted a request to the Board of Supervisors, asking Dominion's plan to undergo the full approval process on the state and local level before construction can begin.
