The three-story, over 68-thousand square-foot building will house various lab-based science activities, including research on shellfish health, aquatic diseases, and marine contaminants. The facility features advanced equipment and a modular design for future research flexibility. The Williamsburg-Yorktown Daily reports the dedication ceremony Thursday highlighted the building's role in advancing environmental sustainability and coastal science solutions. Planned renovations to the Gloucester [[GLOSS-ter]] Point campus will focus on education and public outreach, funded by a recent gift from philanthropist Jane Batten.
