Chesapeake City Council approved a new development with nearly 1,300 residential units in the Springton at Grassfield development along Dominion Boulevard. The project includes single-family homes, villas, townhouses, and commercial space, with plans for road and utility investments, a public park, and open space. Some residents expressed concerns about strain on public services and school capacity, while others supported the project as a step towards addressing the affordable housing shortage in the area. During the vote some council members also cited school capacity concerns.
