(Richmond, VA) -- Governor Glenn Youngkin has signed several bills into law following the 2025 Virginia General Assembly session. Effective July 1st, spreading rumors or threatening violence against buildings, public places, or transportation will result in a Class 5 felony charge. WRIC reports the law also now includes a Class 6 felony charge for mail-related crimes, such as hiding, damaging, or stealing mail. It is also illegal to allow minors without a driver's license to drive a car, with penalties including a Class 1 misdemeanor for resulting accidents.
