Governor Glenn Youngkin continues to prioritize recovery efforts in Southwest Virginia following Hurricane Helene as the number of homes and businesses damaged or destroyed continues to rise as assessments continue. He says progress has been made in restoring services in Virginia's hardest-hit areas, with power restored to most customers and cell phone towers repaired. The Cardinal News reports boil water advisories have decreased, and efforts are underway to address debris and chemical concerns in lakes used for power generation. Governor Youngkin says he wouldn't hesitate to call Virginia lawmakers back in session if extra help is needed.
