The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare announced earlier this year that nursing homes must increase registered nurse staffing to 24 hours a day over the next few years. Several states have criticized the new rule as costly and burdensome and costly. Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares said the lawsuit was needed to overturn a policy that could force some nursing homes to go out of business.
