Officer Bruce Foster will be recognized at VSU's commencement ceremony on Saturday. Foster was injured, paralyzed from the waist down, during a shooting that took place near campus last November. In a statement, VSU President Dr. Makola Abdullah called it an "honor" to award Foster in "recognition of his outstanding character and bravery," calling him "an inspiration to us all." The University says an honorary degree is a high-standing recognition given to those who have made significant contributions to the school.
