Residents can now report non-emergency crimes to the Roanoke County Police Department using a new online reporting tool that allows citizens to submit incidents at their convenience, helping prioritize emergency responses. Reports will be reviewed within 72 hours and, once approved, become official police reports. To use the tool, 13News Now reports individuals must be over 18, have a current email address and phone number, and the crime must have occurred in Roanoke County without involving weapons or a known suspect. The department assures that information provided is secure, but warns against making false reports. Residents should still report emergency crimes by phone.
