Balico, a Herndon-based oil and gas company, is holding an outreach meeting Tuesday in Java at the Riceville Missionary Baptist Church at 6 p.m.to discuss a proposed project including more than 70 data center buildings and a natural gas power plant in Pittsylvania County. A previous outreach meeting was held Monday in Chatham. The company plans to rezone over 2,200 acres for the project, utilizing the existing Mountain Valley Pipeline infrastructure. The Cardinal News reports the proposal will be reviewed by the county planning commission on November 7th, with public input at a hearing. Residents can attend the community meetings to learn more about the project and ask questions.
