Senator Jennifer Boysko and Delegate Briana Sewell joined impacted Virginians at Hitchcock Paper Company in Prince William County to urge Governor Glenn Youngkin to sign House Bill 2531, which would establish a paid family and medical leave insurance program in Virginia. Fairfax Times dot com reports the bill, passed by both chambers of the General Assembly, aims to provide up to 12 weeks of paid time off for workers to care for loved ones or recover from illness, funded by premiums from employers and employees. Melissa Alexander, a mother who faced financial challenges caring for her daughter with brain cancer, highlighted the importance of the bill for families in crisis.
