>>Virginia Sick Paid Leave Bill on Governor's Desk
(Richmond, VA) -- A bill to give Virginia employees paid sick leave is on Governor Youngkin's desk. Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: The bill would give every employee in the state paid time off if they're suffering from a physical or mental illness, preventative care doctor visits, or need to take care of a sick child. Workers would accrue sick leave at a rate of one hour per every 30 hours worked, for up to 40 hours a year. Opponents of the bill say it would increase the cost of doing business in the Commonwealth for all employers in all industries. But supporters, like Delegate Ward of Hampton who wrote the bill, say it would actually help Virginia businesses. He added that Virginia business owners don't want sick employees. Gov. Youngkin has until March 24th to sign the bill. I'm RR.
